Updated Data-Tier Application FrameworkĪlso updated is SSDT Power Tools.Support for Visual Studio 2012 Integrated Shell.Support for ANSI_NULLS and QUOTED_IDENIFIER properties on project and script files.Unfortunately this update does not include updates to the Business Intelligence templates (SSAS/SSIS/SSRS), so those still only work with Visual Studio 2010. Keep in mind that the underlying engine and functionality for SSDT – September 2012 is the same for both Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012, so you don’t need to upgrade to Visual Studio 2012 to use the latest version of SSDT. If one of these SKUs is not present on the box, running the SSDT installer for Visual Studio 2012 will lay down a standalone version of SSDT for the Visual Studio 2012 Integrated Shell (which will appear on the start menu as “Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools 2012”). This update contains several bug fixes to the SSDT version (7) that shipped in Visual Studio 2012 (you have the option of installing SSDT when installing Visual Studio 2012) and this release can be applied as an update on top of Visual Studio 2012 Professional, Premium, and Ultimate Editions. This release of SSDT now supports the Visual Studio 2012 shell, so SSDT is now available for both Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio 2010 (actually you could optionally install SSDT when installing Visual Studio 2012, so this new support of the Visual Studio 2012 shell is for the stand-alone version of SSDT). The SSDT team is committed to delivering regular, frequent releases of SSDT, and this is the first in a long line of updates. SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) has a new update (version 5, with the previous version being 5).
